I came across a pretty cool thought when working on my latest Empowerment Word Wednesday for this week. The word was THRIVE- and two definitions provided best suited my audience of victorious women. Definition 1- Grow or develop well or vigorously and 2- Prosper or flourish. I love the culminating definition, in which I created of course, “To prosper or flourish vigorously“. Imagine if every human could first tap into their divine purpose in the earth and then “prosper vigorously” or THRIVE in that area. WOW!
We often spend too much time in a discontented state with our surroundings or current situation. Particularly when we feel that life has taken a turn in the opposite direction of our liking or area of comfort. But if you were to simply stop, imagine yourself as a tree and take a good look at your current state, examine the soil around you, the position of your body including your mental attitude and the effect that your presence has in the space you dwell.
Are you Thriving? Are your roots grounded in soil that allows for the intake of water, nutrients and sunlight? Do you appreciate the Sun and Rain as food for the wellbeing of your life rather than seasons of frustration, lack of energy, doubt and fear? Is your trunk strong and able to withstand the next powerful wind or tropical storm? Or has your body neglected exercise, good eating habits and renewed strength by apply your mind? What about your branches? The extensions of your body that allow your hands, feet, ears, mouth and thoughts to propitiate on the lives of others. Do you extend yourself to those you encounter? Perfect strangers who experience a brighter day because of your kind word, warm smile, or courtesy to hold a door open for them. Lets not forget those leaves, the foliage that is so evident to the world of the state of your inner being. Are there obvious signs of disease, bitterness or anger. Are your leaves pale and yellow, browning tips and easily broken? Or do you exude the beauty of healthy green leaves with strong hues that draw birds to congregate within your fold to build a nest for their young? Does your tree produce fruit? Can one partake of the gifts and talents engrained from the roots that are still firmly attached to the soil of the one that created you in this magnificence?
Just to get you thinking, reflecting and analyzing YOUR current state. Are you THRIVING where you’re planted? No matter your response a greater question is this: “Are you thriving and influencing the environment in which you dwell?” Why or Why not?
Psalm 1: 1-3* NIV (context doesn’t work well for verse 3 to stand alone)
1- Blessed is the man who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers. 2- but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3- That person is like a tree planted by the streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-whatever they do prospers.
